Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Satisdrive ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
- Authentication Data: Email address, display name, and encrypted authentication tokens
- Sign-in Methods: Google Sign-In credentials, Apple Sign-In credentials, or email/password combinations
- Profile Information: Optional display name and profile photo you choose to upload
1.2 Vehicle and Maintenance Data
- Vehicle Information: Make, model, year, VIN, license plate, color, odometer readings, photos you upload
- Maintenance Records: Service logs, part replacements, maintenance schedules, costs, dates, mileage, vendor information
- Scheduled Tasks: Future maintenance appointments, part replacement reminders, service scheduling with date/time
- Notification Preferences: Push notification settings for maintenance reminders, document expiry alerts, scheduled task notifications, AI notification preferences
- Documents: Photos and files you upload (receipts, insurance cards, registration documents, inspection reports)
- Car Issues: Problem descriptions, symptoms, dashboard warning lights, repair notes, resolution status, AI-generated diagnosis (AI Pro only)
- Fuel Tracking: Fuel purchases, mileage, costs, efficiency calculations
- Calendar Events: Maintenance reminders, scheduled services, due dates
- AI Chat History: Conversations with Satisy AI assistant (AI Pro only, stored locally and optionally in cloud)
1.3 Location Data
- Precise Location: Used only when you actively search for nearby auto repair shops or parts stores
- Service Locations: Addresses of repair shops and parts stores you save or visit
- No Background Tracking: We do not collect location data when the app is not in use
1.4 Device and Usage Information
- Device Information: Operating system version, app version, device model, device identifiers
- Crash Reports: Automatic crash logs to help us fix bugs and improve app stability
- Usage Analytics: App feature usage, screen views, and performance metrics (Firebase Analytics - only on web)
- Usage Limits Tracking: Daily search counts, weekly video search counts, monthly maintenance item counts for free users
- Form Drafts: Temporary storage of incomplete form data to prevent data loss (stored locally for 24 hours)
- Notification Preferences: Your choices for maintenance reminders and document expiry alerts
- Background Processing: Limited background tasks for maintenance calculations and notifications
- Network Information: Connection status to determine online/offline functionality
1.5 Third-Party Integration Data
- YouTube Search: Search queries for automotive how-to videos (processed through our proxy server at satisdrive-proxy-93z3mzhyj-satisapps-projects.vercel.app)
- Google Places: Location searches for nearby automotive services using Google Places API
- Google Maps: Map display and location services for shop locations
- RevenueCat: Subscription status, purchase history, and customer information for Pro and AI Pro features
- Apple/Google Services: Authentication tokens, push notification tokens, in-app purchase receipts
- OpenAI API: Car issue descriptions, chat messages, and vehicle data sent for AI analysis (AI Pro only, processed securely and not used for training)
2. Permissions and Data Access
2.1 Required Permissions
- Camera: Take photos of vehicles and receipts for maintenance logs (iOS: NSCameraUsageDescription)
- Photo Library: Select profile photos and receipt images (iOS: NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription)
- Photo Library Add: Save edited receipt images to your library (iOS: NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription)
- Location (When In Use): Find nearby auto repair shops and parts stores (iOS: NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription)
- Notifications: Send maintenance reminders and document expiry alerts
2.2 Android Permissions
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES: Access photos for receipts and vehicle images
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Location services for nearby shops
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION: Location access while app is active
- CAMERA: Take photos within the app
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Send push notifications for reminders
2.3 Optional Permissions
- All permissions can be denied - app will function with limited features
- Location permission only used when actively searching for shops
- Camera/photo permissions only used when you choose to add images
- Notification permission only used for maintenance reminders you enable
3. How We Use Your Information
3.1 Core App Functionality
- Store and organize your vehicle maintenance records
- Calculate maintenance schedules and due dates
- Send push notifications for upcoming maintenance (if enabled)
- Schedule future maintenance tasks and appointments
- Provide fuel efficiency tracking and analytics
- Enable document storage and expiry reminders
- Track and resolve car issues
- Enforce usage limits for free users (daily/weekly/monthly caps)
- Provide location-based services for nearby shops
- Enable automotive how-to video searches
3.2 Pro Features (Paid Subscription)
- Cloud backup and synchronization across devices
- Unlimited vehicles, documents, and maintenance records
- Advanced analytics and reporting
- Export data to CSV format
3.3 AI Pro Features (AI Pro Subscription)
- Generate AI-powered diagnosis for car issues with detailed analysis and recommendations
- Chat with Satisy AI assistant about car maintenance, repairs, and app features
- Receive daily and nightly AI digests with personalized insights about your vehicles
- Get smart AI notifications including daily tips, weekly summaries, and predictive maintenance alerts
- Receive AI-powered document expiry reminders and fuel efficiency tips
- Access AI cost-saving recommendations and maintenance predictions
3.4 Service Improvement
- Analyze app usage to improve features and user experience
- Debug crashes and technical issues
- Develop new features based on user needs
- Provide customer support
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
- SQLite Database: Your data is primarily stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database
- User-Specific Databases: Each user has a separate database file for data isolation
- Offline Access: Most features work without internet connection
4.2 Cloud Storage (Pro Users Only)
- Firebase/Google Cloud: Pro users' data is backed up to Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage
- Project Details: Data stored in Firebase project "satisdrive-887f6" in Google Cloud
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
- Geographic Location: Data is stored in Google Cloud data centers in the United States
- Access Control: Only you can access your data using your authenticated account
- Backup Process: Automatic cloud sync when enabled, with manual backup/restore options
4.3 File Storage
- Document Photos: Images you upload are stored in Firebase Storage with unique, non-guessable URLs
- Image Compression: Photos are automatically compressed to reduce storage space and improve performance
- Retention: Files are retained until you delete them or close your account
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
5.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purposes.
5.2 Service Providers
We share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate the app:
- Google/Firebase: Authentication, cloud storage (Firestore/Firebase Storage), crash reporting, and analytics (web only)
- RevenueCat: Subscription management, payment processing, and customer analytics
- Apple/Google: App distribution, in-app purchases, push notifications, and device authentication
- YouTube API: Video search functionality via our proxy server (search queries only, no personal data)
- Google Places/Maps API: Location-based business search and map display
- Vercel: Hosting our YouTube proxy server for video search functionality
- Expo/EAS: App building, distribution, and development services
- OpenAI: AI processing for car issue diagnosis, Satisy AI chat, daily digests, and smart notifications (AI Pro only)
5.4 AI Data Processing
For AI Pro users, we send limited vehicle and issue data to OpenAI for processing:
- Data Sent: Car issue descriptions, symptoms, vehicle make/model/year, chat messages with Satisy AI
- Data Not Sent: Personal information, VIN numbers, license plates, photos, documents, precise location data
- OpenAI Policy: Data sent to OpenAI API is not used to train their models (per OpenAI's API data usage policy)
- Retention: OpenAI retains API requests for 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes them
- Security: All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
5.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
6. Your Privacy Rights and Controls
6.1 Data Access and Export
- Export Data: Download all your data in JSON format from the app settings
- CSV Export: Pro users can export maintenance logs and fuel data to CSV
- Data Portability: Take your data with you if you switch to another service
6.2 Data Control
- Edit Information: Modify or delete any vehicle, maintenance, or document records
- Cloud Backup Toggle: Pro users can enable/disable cloud synchronization
- Notification Settings: Control which notifications you receive, including AI notifications
- AI Features: AI Pro users can disable individual AI notifications (daily tips, weekly summaries, etc.)
- Chat History: Clear Satisy AI chat history at any time from the app
- Analytics Opt-out: Disable usage analytics in app settings
6.3 Account Deletion
- Self-Service: Delete your account directly from the app by going to Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account
- Complete Removal: All local and cloud data is permanently deleted
- Subscription Cancellation: Remember to cancel your subscription through the App Store or Google Play before deleting your account
- Data Retention: Data is deleted within 30 days, except as required by law
- No Support Required: You can delete your account yourself without contacting support
7. Data Retention
- Active Accounts: Data is retained while your account is active and for legitimate business purposes
- Deleted Accounts: Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Legal Obligations: Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for legal proceedings
- Crash Reports: Anonymous crash logs are retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes
- YouTube Search Cache: Search results cached on our proxy server for 1 week to improve performance
- Local Data: Data stored locally on your device until you delete the app or clear app data
- Usage Limits: Daily, weekly, and monthly usage counters reset automatically and are not permanently stored
- Draft Data: Form drafts saved locally for 24 hours to prevent data loss during app usage
- AI Chat History: Satisy AI conversations stored locally and in cloud (if enabled) until manually cleared
- AI Diagnosis: AI-generated car issue diagnosis stored with the issue until deleted
- OpenAI Processing: Data sent to OpenAI for AI features is retained by OpenAI for 30 days for abuse monitoring
8. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States where our cloud infrastructure is located. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this privacy policy.
9. Children's Privacy
Satisdrive is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, providing additional notice through the app.
